Philip Christopher
Philip Christopher is President & CEO of Personal Communications Devices, LLC (PCD), formerly UTStarcom Personal Communications Division. Under Mr. Christopher’s leadership, PCD is revolutionizing the way wireless products come to market, serving as a global gateway for technology partners and providing high-quality, reliable and versatile wireless communications devices in North and South America. Product planning and development on CDMA, GSM/GPRS and HSDPA platforms, technical testing, quality control as well as marketing and warranty support are among the offerings provided by PCD that differentiate it from other wireless industry suppliers.
In his role with PCD’s predecessors, UTStarcom Personal Communications Division and Audiovox Communications Corp., Mr. Christopher is credited with growing the Division’s global handset sales and revenues to record levels.
Mr. Christopher has had an active role in the telecommunications industry. He was a member of the White House Economic Council and continues to serve on the Board of Directors of CTIA – The Wireless Association. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, the Atlantic Professional Soccer League and several other organizations. Mr. Christopher also is the recipient of numerous industry and humanitarian awards and honors, including the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
Born in Kyrenia, Cyprus, Mr. Christopher immigrated to the United States with his family when he was 10 years old. He is one of the most highly regarded leaders in the Greek Cypriot and Greek-American communities, marking three decades of ongoing advocacy for these groups. He is president of the International Coordinating Committee for Justice for Cyprus and of the Pancyprian Association of America. Mr. Christopher is a graduate of New York University.
